Hello, kind visitor. This is the personal web site for Chad Patteson. I just did a major re-design to this site so check back later for more good stuff.
About this site…
I bought the domain name tiltshift.com around the year 2000. Why “tiltshift”? It’s a photography term that describes the ability to tilt or shift the lens in relation to the film plane. I’m a big fan of Ansel Adam and most of those have tilt-shift capabilities. Take a look at this article for a descrition of . Tiltshift photography can make scenes look more true-to-life, but they can also make real scenes look artificial, as shown in this “mock miniature” city to the upper-right.
“The view camera adjustments permit shifting and tilting of the lens and film up and down or sideways in relation to each other. Knowing how to use these adjustments gives us an extraordinary degree of control over the content and focus of the image.”
– Ansel Adams
About me…
I’m an Oregon native, born in the Mid-70s. I enjoyed growing up in the rural community of (1-hour south of Portland). My earliest memories include camping and sailing in the Cascade range (here’s me sailing a Hobie Cat on Timothy Lake around age 16). In addition to sailing, I also love photography, mountain biking, , computers and tinkering with biodiesel production and solar energy. Read more about my biodiesel-powered car…
Currently…
I live in Northeast Portland Oregon with my wife and our new baby girl. I’m a contract web developer/designer/IT/geek. See my work-related portfolio page.

I miss the Chad. He got married. He had a child… and then he changes his site so there isn’t anything on it… what’s up with that? I want photos. I want news. I want witty comments. Most of all I want the Chad…. Okay, the links are okay (especially the JoelMama.com link), but I remember the old tiltshift.com that had a bookmark of just about every page that Chad had ever visited; a veritable Chad centric YellowPages of the internet.
I hate to be whiney, but I miss the Chad.
Ha, good timing, Patrick! I’m updating the new site, and I’m even adding a link to the “old” stuff. (Warning, that’s an archive of the old site, and it may have many, many broken links, like an old ghost town.)
